Working with global brands for setting up shop in India
Galaxy Bearings made its third straight appearance at IAA 2018, the world’s largest commercial vehicle fair, held in Hanover last September. The company is one of the most respected Indian bearings manufacturers globally, carving a niche for itself with its product quality and customer-centric approach. It works with a range of axle and wheel bearings for leading vehicle makers, including the likes of Volvo, Scania, Mercedes, MAN, DAF and Iveco, among others, and is also a preferred supplier of bearings to leading axle manufacturers around the world.
Talking about the company’s regular presence at IAA, Mr. Nitin Santoki, CEO, Galaxy Bearings, says: “The IAA is the perfect platform to promote our products in the global market. This is the biggest platform for commercial vehicles globally and we get an opportunity to interact with the right target audience here.”
Galaxy Bearings’ focus at the show was to strengthen its co-operation with the existing customers in the axle space and also scout for potential ones. The company continues to maintain its focus on exports given its relatively less volatile nature when compared to the domestic market.
“Our main target is the truck and trailer axle space wherein we supply to a number of leading customers with whom we work closely in developing new products. We will soon be introducing wheel hubs along with our wheel bearings. Our focus continues to be on exports, and since most of our customers are multinational brands with presence in different geographies across the globe, if one market does not perform well, the drop is compensated by business from other markets”, explains Mr. Santoki.
In addition to its overseas exploits, the bearings maker is using its good experience and understanding of the Indian market and strong product capability, to help global axle makers establish footprint in India. “We are also working with some of the new trailer axle makers (not named due to NDA) who are entering the Indian market and are supporting them to establish their presence in our market. India is a fast-emerging and highly potential market, which is why global manufacturers are keen on setting up shop locally. The present government’s focus on infrastructure development is supporting the cause and helping our industry a lot”, concludes the CEO.
