Galaxy Bearings Ltd. founded in 1990, was the first Public Limited Company of the Galaxy – Adico Group. The company started manufacturing Taper Roller Bearings & Cylindrical Roller Bearings in 1994. “Since our inception, we have been a witness to highs and lows of the bearing trends across markets internationally. Right from the day one, Galaxy Bearings, had focused on manufacturing bearings to meet the ever-changing demands from OEMs as well as Aftermarket, both in terms of quality and performance. “With the aid of latest technologies in the field of design and manufacturing, we designed the new-generation wheel hub bearing where the design capabilities have been utilized to such an extent that a remarkable enhancement in bearing life was achieved,” he beamed.

Process checks
Galaxy Bearings’ quality processes and various checks since years have been pivotal in its growth of business and keeping up with the structure of development. For the best maneuvered bearings in use, the bearings should have high speed ability, best required composition of materials, stringent manufacturing process to get the desired bearing product and the appropriate grease for sustained life of bearings. “We have measures to level the noise quality to acceptable decibels, check the radial load, speed sustainability, temperature changes, lubrication effects at various conditions for variety of bearing designs and applications. For noting and making our bearings dependable, we have a dynamic bearing simulation testing area, which has machines with programs to check for multiple real time situations with differential loads and speed variations,” divulged the CEO.
In the quest of improving bearing quality and enhancing the bearing life, Galaxy Bearings looks forward to adopting coating technology whereby wear resistant lining can be applied to the bearing raceway and rolling element. The company is exploring areas where light weighting and hybrid technologies can be adopted. “Considering the extreme operating conditions, polyamide retainers have been introduced in many bearings with high temperature engineering plastic in place of steel retainers, especially in New Generation Wheel hub bearing. Ceramic rolling elements will be the next project underway,” he told.
