The Global Automotive Research Center (GARC), located at Oragadam near Chennai, convened a significant conference focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), providing a vital platform for knowledge exchange, innovative discussions, and collaboration in this fast-evolving field. The event featured Mr. N. Balasubramanian, Vice President and Product Engineer at Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (RNTBCI), as the esteemed Chief Guest. He delivered a compelling keynote on the future of ADAS and its critical role in enhancing vehicular safety.
Dr. A.S. Ramadhas, Director of GARC, opened the event with an insightful welcome address, highlighting the future trajectory of the automotive industry. Guest of Honour, Mr. Ramanathan, Managing Director of Automotive Test Systems (ATS), shared valuable insights into ADAS functionalities, underscoring the technology’s importance in modern vehicles.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in a rich program featuring keynote presentations, dynamic panel discussions, and interactive workshops.
The first session saw Mr. Santosh Reddy, Officer at TiHan from IIT Hyderabad, discuss testing for autonomous vehicles, with a focus on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication and blind spot detection. Following this, Mr. Dhanasekar Venkatesan, Senior Manager at Hexagon, presented on reliable ADAS systems, covering sensor fusion and realistic driving scenarios. Mrs. Raja Rajeshwari, Senior Engineer at GARC, explored the unique challenges and the way forward for ADAS in the Indian context. Mr. Jaiselan, Senior Manager at ATS, shed light on merging real and virtual environments for Automated Emergency Braking (AEB) testing.
Further enriching the discussions, Mr. Srinath and Mr. Rajesh E., Deputy Managers from RNTBCI, delved into active emergency braking and blind spot warning systems, showcasing engaging, interactive videos.
This conference created a unique opportunity for participants to network, share insights, and discuss innovative strategies shaping the future of the automotive industry. The diverse lineup of speakers, engaging panels, and hands-on workshops were thoughtfully curated to foster collaboration and inspire new ideas. Attendees explored a range of relevant topics, engaging in meaningful discussions about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Following the sessions, participants were treated to a thrilling live demonstration of an ADAS-equipped vehicle. Excitement filled the room as the audience witnessed the vehicle’s cutting-edge features in action, including speed sensing, alarm systems, antennas, and GPS technology. In a dramatic display, the vehicle was tested with a soft target in a simulated collision scenario, vividly demonstrating how ADAS technology enhances safety through real-time response and intervention.
The demo showcased the ADAS automation level 2 functionalities, including Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Collision Avoidance, and Driver Attention Warning systems.
This conference exemplified GARC’s mission to connect industry leaders and advance knowledge in the ADAS realm. The insights gained and connections made during the event will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of automotive technologies.
