Known for its forging and machining parts for two-wheelers, PVs and CVs, Highway Industries Ltd. has become a sought-after name with OEMs for forged parts in India and abroad. With a workforce of over 2,000 persons, its activities are spread over three well laid-out sprawling locations in the industrial city of Ludhiana, India, and produces millions of hot and cold forged and precision machined components like crank shafts, connecting rod, kick starter spindle, arm assembly for two-wheelers, flange axle, variety of shafts and flanges, sleeves for four-wheelers, crank, piston, C-block for white goods industries, etc.
Mr. Sandeep Arora, Sr. G.M. (Marketing), Highway Industries, said: “We are a Hero MotoCorp company and our primary business is to supply crankshafts for two-wheelers. However, we have also diversified into manufacturing of gears for tractors, where we directly supply to OEMs. We are also into manufacturing 3 stars and 4 stars/cross spindles and flanges and exporting it to premium European car manufacturers. Because of our precision and accuracy with the use of machines like DGM CNC machines, have ensured operative excellence, increased production and optimum use of advanced resources.”
With the overall automotive market registering progressive numbers, the company is optimistic on its growth prospects. “On CVs we are in talks with Ashok Leyland, our exports demand is growing and so is our take-off in the tractor segment. At the moment we are forging in tune of 20,000 tonnes per month and our forging capacity is 90 per cent utilized. We can add machining capacity as much as we want. Given the time and orders if required we can set-up a new plant too,” expressed Mr. Arora.
Exporting to OEMs and tier-1 suppliers in countries like Mexico, Czech Republic, China, Canada, Germany and Austria, Highway Industries is expecting to almost double its turnover over the next two to three years. “We should reach a sales turnover figure of Rs. 1,000 crores by 2021-22 from Rs. 600 crores we clocked last year,” he added.
