HP Gas has bagged the Superbrand Trophy for 2012-14. The Trophy was presented to Mr. Y.K. Gawali, Executive Director – LPG of HPCL, by Mr. Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communication & Information, in the presence of dignitaries of 86 leading brands in the country at a glittering function held in New Delhi recently.
A six-month long, two-step selection process included invitees from across the country to grade brands. Nearly 25,000 respondents swamped with over a million scores. Those brands which survived the highly critical consumer scrutiny were then subjected to professional evaluation by an independent body of business leaders and marketing professionals.
Interestingly, from the original list of 1,734 brands in the first stage, only 272 made it to the second and final round. In a market comprising several highly regarded competitors and brands, this is an outstanding achievement for HP Gas.
Superbrands began its journey in the UK in 1993 as a radio program on BBC4 and evolved into a book format a year later. The first UK edition was released in 1994. In its 17-year history Superbrands has launched several titles, each honoring a different category of brand development. Today it is present in over 86 countries.
