Hübner, global leader in vehicle articulation systems, was present at the show mainly to highlight the fact that its world-class German-engineered product for articulated buses is now made-in-India at its new production facility in Bangalore. The company has been eyeing the Indian market for close to two decades and has already supplied its systems to bus majors Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors, while talks are on with other manufacturers.
“Though the Indian market has been quite slow, last year we decided to set up our production facility at Bangalore and now we are ready to support our customers with a locally-made product. India is a big country and a good market for us for the future. We have some of the global OEMs starting local bus production in India and since we work with them in other regions like Europe and South America, we hope we come together in India as well”, says Mr. Markus Mazur, Head of Sales, Hübner GmbH.
With the PM’s ‘Smart Cities’ initiative gaining momentum, BRT systems could well be one of the key focus areas as part of the modernization drive in the country. This reflects into huge potential for Hübner’s solutions for articulated buses which are the preferred choice for BRT systems. Hübner on its part is not looking for big number in quick time but prefers to establish good connect with its customers for the long-term.
Mr. Makarand Shahane, Director, Hübner Interface Systems India Pvt. Ltd., explains: “We are in the right direction when it comes to BRT systems in India and I think we will see a very good future for articulated buses in the country. As far as our company is concerned, we enjoy a good sound position in the market with ongoing discussions with all major bus OEMs. We are not looking at the numbers and are focusing on informing our customers, both current and potential, that they now get a German product built locally, backed by local support. Our customers have developed a huge amount of trust and confidence on us with a certification that ‘Hübner quality is the best and that’s what we want’ which is most important for us.”
