Hypratek Fluid Power Pvt. Ltd., a fast-growing home-grown hydraulics solutions provider, is well prepared to expand its presence in the Indian market as it plans to introduce new products and solutions tailor-made to meet customer requirements. Come 2020, Hypratek will be a force to reckon with, says its Managing Director, Mr. Sudhir Prabhu, in an exclusive interaction with MOTORINDIA.
Excerpts:
What is Hypratek’s Vision 2020?
The outlook is positive. By 2020, we should be the No.1 in tipper covering systems and tip-trailer hydraulics kit market. We intend to be number three in tipper hydraulic space. Competition is growing and there is a price war started primarily by one other tipper hydraulic manufacturer. I am sure no one can sustain it in the long run. Our hydraulics business is stable, and we are adding new OEMs and related new products in our portfolio.
How would you prepare for achieving your vision?
We have already carried out successful field trials in tipper covering systems and cargo body covering systems. We have expanded our present production space to accommodate these covering systems. Orders for the required machines to produce the covering systems in house have been placed. These are light weight and easy to mount. Though it’s a new concept in India it has been made mandatory now. We are offering these at competitive costs so that every transporter can afford them.
Are you planning on any new segment?
Apart from covering systems, we have finalized with the Japanese air compressors manufacturer, HORI, for bulk cement and fly ash transporters. HORI Engineering Company is the original designer and manufacturer of WING Type compressors. We offer two-year full warranty on HORI compressors with good service network.
We have also a technology transfer agreement with FLIPTOP Covering System of Sweden, which works irrespective of the damage to the top rail of the tipper. We have the rights to manufacture and sell these under FLIPTOP-Hypratek brand in India. We also export them to FlipTop Sweden. Demand and awareness for this system is growing and we expect to produce around 500 units this year. It takes about 15 seconds to open or close it. We can supply manual, hydraulic and pneumatic versions. It comes with wireless remote control operation, and the driver can operate the system without getting out of his cabin.
In addition, we are introducing three cubic meter garbage containers with built-in screw compactors, in line with Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. With a capacity to accommodate 12 cu.m. of garbage, they are fully sealed and leak proof. By 2020, Indian sales are expected to exceed 1,000 containers.
What will be your main focus areas?
Currently, we have 10 dealers, 15 outlets and 12 sales and service people across India. We would like to increase this to 20 dealerships, 30 outlets and at least 40 well-trained service technicians.
We are targeting stationing of service technicians in remote mining areas where tippers are working for almost round the clock seven days a week. With the help of our Japanese partner (Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo Co. Ltd.), we will enhance our efficiency, install extra capacity and expand.
Kyokuto would be our big customer for tipper hydraulic kits in China, Thailand, Indonesia and India.
How will the market be upto 2020?
The market will pick up soon after this monsoon, and I don’t think there will be any looking back for the next three to four years. We foresee that with large-scale irrigation projects coming up, just like the Krishna-Godawari project in Andhra Pradesh, this would set an example for other States which would kick-start a big revolution with an increase in demand for all our products.
