The company has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bangalore which has advanced CNC machines and in-house gas nitrating facility. Hypratek telescopic cylinder stages are treated by gas nitrating on the outside as well as the inside of the cylinders which is unique technology in the Indian market. The company has started supplying front-end tipper hydraulics to truck OEMs, tip-trailer and tipper bulker fabricators in big numbers.

Buoyed by the success of penetrating into the truck OEM market, Hypratek has taken up expansion plan by investing Rs. 7 crores in new machines and capacity expansion at its plant. According to Mr. Sudhir Prabhu, the company is gearing up to supply 1,000 tipper kits per month by December this year and is aiming to reach 2,000 tipper kits per month by November 2014. Incidentally, Mr. Prabhu was the founder of Hyva India Pvt. Ltd.

In order to minimize the import of hydraulic components, Hypratek is also gearing up to manufacture its own hydraulic pumps, valves and 12/24 volts power packs and cab controls of OMFB S.p.A Italy and integrate locally manufactured P.T.Os and quill shafts from Alpha Drive. Hypratek expects to cross a turnover of Rs. 100 crores by FY15 as it aims to take a substantial market share in front-mounted tipper hydraulics in the country. Mr. Prabhu estimates the Indian market for front-end tipper hydraulics to reach 90,000 kits per annum by 2016-17.

Agreement with FLIPTOP

Hypratek has signed a technology transfer agreement with FLIPTOP, a leading tipper covering system manufacturer from Sweden supplying such systems for decades in Scandinavian countries with good success. The revolutionary tipper covering system is available in three versions: ‘manually operated’ one, hydraulically operated with wireless remote control, and mechanically operated with cranked handle.

FLIPTOP consists of two gable ends, one in front and the other at the rear end of the tipper or truck body. It has high gloss UV-protected PVC-coated polyurethane fabric (640 gsm) imported from France. This PVC-coated tarpaulin is fabricated with special hot air welding process to accommodate the steel or aluminium structural members. It is easy to operate and simple to maintain the lightweight tipper covering system with relatively low cost. This tipper covering system can save lives on the highways. While driving along, tippers very often leave behind sand and gravel. This overspilling of sand and gravel damages the windshield of the vehicles coming behind causing grave accidents. With FLIPTOP installations, the highways can be made more safe and secure.

PVC-coated polyurethane tarpaulin has very high tear strength and can withstand extreme hot weather. It is especially beneficial for iron ore, coal and flyash transportation. Spillages from iron ore tippers plying on Goan villages and towns have caused a lot of environmental damage.

The price depends on the length of the body to be covered, ranging from Rs. 45,000 for a 4.5 m manually operated version to Rs. 90,000 for a 6.5 m hydraulically operated system. It comes with a two-year warranty, however the expected product lifetime is three to five years depending on the usage.
