Kyokuto Kaihatsu Kogyo Co. Ltd. of Japan has done strategic investment in Hypratek Fluid Power Pvt. Ltd. (HFPPL), Bangalore. MOTORINDIA team met Mr. Takeo Norimitsu, Executive Officer, with his team, and Mr. Sudhir Prabhu, Managing Director, Hypratek, at the latter’s plant near the Attibele Industrial Area during their first working committee meeting after the investment was made by Kyokuto.
The Japanese delegation included Mr. Y. Takashima, Supervisory Board Member, Mr. Norimitsu, Mr. N. Yamato, Manager – Overseas Business Development, and Mr. T. Nogochi, Resident Director from Kyokuto on the Hypratek Board.
All of them are highly hopeful of the future prospects. Mr. Norimitsu confirmed that they would introduce the Hypratek front end tipping system in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand and China.
Mr. Prabhu is extremely delighted over the strategic partnership, and expects Japanese discipline, better process know how, work culture, etc., would help Hypratek leap ahead. Kyokuto is 28.46 per cent shareholder in Hypratek.
Asked how Kyokuto got involved in Hypratek, Mr. Norimitsu said they have their JV, Mithra Kyokuto Special Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (MKSPV). Hypratek has been the partner supplier of tipper hydraulic kits. When he visited Hypratek met Mr. Prabhu, he was much impressed with HFPPL’s well-planned manufacturing facility and instantly formed great relationship with Mr. Prabhu. He was also happy with the technology employed in Hypratek tipper hydraulic kits. The deal was completed in just five months time.
During validation their technical team visited Hypratek and assessed the USPs in design and production processes. They were particularly impressed with the Liquid Bath Nitriding & Oxidation Process (LBNOP) employed to manufacture Hypratek telescopic cylinders. They were also happy with the direct cylinder-mounted tipper valve which has full flow relief valve to protect the pump and the shock relief valve to protect the cylinder against the peak pressure developed within the cylinders.
Hypratek is one of the four tipper hydraulic cylinder manufacturers in the world deploying the LBNO process. Mr. Prabhu hopes this partnership will yield the desired results.
Hypratek is now an OEM supplier to Volvo India with Mithra Kyokuto Rock body tippers. It is also finalizing supplies to other truck OEMs. The company now manufactures tipper hydraulic kits (THK) suitable for 16-ton GVW tippers to 46 cu.m. tip trailers tipping 85 tons payload for the Gulf and Israeli markets.
Asked about the future plans, Mr. Prabhu and Mr. Norimitsu confirmed that they would like to give the Indian market the best reliable option for tipper hydraulic kits.
Hypratek will soon set up a gear pump manufacturing facility in partnership with an Italian manufacturer. Hypratek has established its presence in the replacement market with its 10 dealerships and service technicians. With an installed capacity of 12,000 THKs per annum, the company is now all set to offer better options to the tipper industry in India.
