Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. recenty organized the second national seminar on Sustainability in New Delhi with the theme ‘Public Enterprises: Leading the way to Sustainable Development’.
The seminar, inaugurated by Mr. Deepak Gupta, former Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), in the presence of the Director (Planning and Business Development) of IndianOil, had many eminent speakers from the Ministry of Water Resources, Department of Public Enterprises, the Centre for Science and Environment, Global Reporting Initiative, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, and TERI, among others.
The seminar discussed a wide range of topics, including the existing policy environment, challenges and opportunities in the carbon, water and waste management for Indian industries and sustainability experience of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).
On the occasion, the need for setting up of a sustainability hub for CPSEs was stressed. The hub is expected to act as a forum for CPSEs to share experiences, emulate industry-best practices, undertake collaborative innovation and make a concerted approach towards achieving and bettering global benchmarks.
