Company showcases Intel® Onboard Fleet Services, an AI-powered comprehensive fleet safety solution for commercial vehicles at ‘SmartFleetz’ roadshows in association with MOTORINDIA magazine
Reiterating its commitment to advance the government’s goal to reduce road accidents and fatalities to 50 percent by 2025, Intel India in association with MOTORINDIA, hosted a unique event called ‘SmartFleetz’ to discuss and deliberate on the role of technology in ensuring the safety of commercial vehicle fleets in India.
The three-day event held separately in Salem and Namakkal brought together fleet operators and drivers and showcased Intel® Onboard Fleet Services, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered fleet safety solution for commercial vehicles. Designed for Indian conditions, Intel’s solution features in-cabin devices which offer advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), collision avoidance systems (CAS), driver monitoring systems, fleet telematics, fleet health and fuel efficiency features.
On the first day of the SmartFleetz event in Salem saw the participation of 35 top truck fleet operators and office-bearers of the Salem District Lorry Owners Association (SDLOA).
Fleet operators were briefed on how AI can be leveraged to unlock the power of data to safeguard their fleets and step-up operational efficiency. Intel’s technologists explained how Intel® Onboard Fleet Services can help fleet operators get a business edge through improved fuel performance, driver performance and vehicle performance.
On Day 2, a demo truck equipped with Intel® Onboard Fleet Services solution was flagged off from the SDLOA head office in the presence of the office-bearers of the association. Having heard in detail about the solution the previous evening, the operators were given an opportunity to have a hands-on experience of the solution in their vehicle.
The truck was stopped at a busy parking yard in the city where a driver engagement session was held. Around 20-25 truck drivers were briefed about Intel’s camera-based safety solution along with a live demo. Some fun games and activities were conducted for the drivers and merchandise was given away to the winners and participants.
Post lunch, the truck made its way to Namakkal, around 60 km from Salem, for the second fleet meet on October 14. At Namakkal, the fleet meet received an overwhelming response with nearly 75 members from the local fleet community that was drawn by curiosity and interest in Intel’s road safety solution. The session was attended by the office-bearers of three main associations in the city — Namakkal Taluk Lorry Owners Association (NTLOA), Southern Region Bulk LPG Transport Owners Association (SRB LPG TOA) and Namakkal Trailer Owner Association (NTOA).
Like in Salem, Intel® Onboard Fleet Services was showcased and it saw a more engaging round of Q&A which was more of an exchange of ideas about scaling the solution and making it more relevant for Indian roads and drivers.
The showcase of Intel’s road safety solution, hands-on experience and driver engagement sessions reinforced Intel’s continued efforts towards bringing together critical players to collaborate, innovate and advance road safety for India.
