The International Centre for Automotive Technology organized a symposium on Automotive Tyre Technology – iSATT-2014 – in New Delhi on February 10-11. Mr. Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, Joint Secretary, MoRTH, inaugurated the symposium in the presence of Mr. Nitin Gokarn, Chief Executive Officer, NATRiP, Mr. Dinesh Tyagi, Director, ICAT, Mr. Rajiv Budhraja, Director-General, ATMA, Mr. Paul Markrick, CEO, VCA-UK, Mr. V. Shivaramkrishnan, Vice President, JK Tyre, Mr. N. Srikrishnan, General Manager – Technical, BKT Tyre, and Mr. S.K. Kalia, General Manager, ICAT & Convener – iSATT 2014.
iSATT-2014 which provided a knowledge sharing platform for tyre design engineers, regulatory bodies, manufacturers, suppliers and OEMs under one roof, reiterated its commitment to the future development of the automotive tyre technology. More than 110 delegates from different sections of the automotive tyre industry, OEMs, testing agencies, BIS and homologation agencies attended it.
The sessions held at the symposium focused on various research and development activities, upcoming technology, tyre design and manufacturing methods, testing methodologies, standards, regulatory and commercial aspects, vehicle safety and performance. Also included was a panel discussion on “Recycled materials in Indian tyre industry”.
Keynote speakers were from various leading international scientific & research organizations, testing laboratories and OEMs like Tinna Rubber and Infrastructure Ltd., HASETRI, LMS, Michelin Tyres, CEAT, LANXESS, Tekscan, Automotive Test Systems, IDIADA and NABL. They shared their knowledge on various issues critical to the automotive tyre industry, such as tyre rolling resistance, tyre monitoring pressure system (TPMS), tyre simulation, tyre test, homologation and labelling, laboratory accreditation, etc.
An exhibition organized concurrently presented future products related to tactile pressure measurement, research and other strategies related to automotive tyre technology.
The symposium was well organized by the ICAT team of young engineers headed by Mr. Amit Karwal, Sr. Manager, under the direction and guidance of Mr. S.K. Kalia, General Manager – ICAT & Converor – iSATT ’14, and Mr. Dinesh Tyagi, Director, ICAT, and Chairman, iSATT ’14.
Mr. U.D. Bhargava, Director – RT, and Mr. S.K. Kalia, General Manager, ICAT, graced the valedictory session with their presence.
