Isuzu Motors India Private Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh Government for starting LCV manufacturing operations, for which it has acquired 430 thousand sq. metres of land at Sricity in the State.
Isuzu has decided Sricity as the most suited location based on its good access to Chennai where many automobile-related industries are situated. The company is targeting an annual sale of one lakh units from the project.
Isuzu has just started sales of pick-up truck (D-MAX) and pick-up derivative (MU-7) from by importing complete built-up vehicles. It will build up its sales network, initially covering Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
India’s automobile industry has grown fast, backed by its steady economic development. Especially the pick-up truck segment, the core product of Isuzu’s LCV, has expanded considerably with annual sales of two lakh units. Isuzu aims to expand business in India by developing products matching the market needs, expanding the sales network and setting up manufacturing operations.
