Q The Battery Show India is scheduled for October 2023. What can we expect in this edition of India’s biggest Battery Show?
Yes, the launch edition of The Battery Show, India which is a legacy inherited from The Battery Shows in the USA AND Stuttgart, Germany, is scheduled to be held from 4 – 6 October 2023 wherein it’s being strategically Co-Located with our flagship 16th edition of Renewable Energy India (REI) 2023 Expo. The industry will witness the commitments of India in the Energy Storage space and the intent of top global players who are eager to showcase their path-breaking technologies at the expo. The Battery Show India is able to rope in some of the top tech brands from Europe, the USA, Canada and India. It’d be a Knowledge Festival which every stakeholder must enjoy, learn and leverage. Q What according to you is the role of domestic manufacturing in this segment?
For a growing economy like India which is so rich in natural and man-made resources and is famous for its highest intellect, it’s so imperative to strengthen its domestic manufacturing domain in every line of business. This will not only giveapushtoour “Atmanirbhar Bharat(Self Reliant India)” campaign but will also hedge the risks of loss to the exchequer by means of imports and supply chains being disrupted as the world witnessed in the recent past. To be Self Reliant is NOT a statement alone, it’s a vision of our Country and so critical for the overall economic development of the nation. This will not only let technologies “stay” within us but will also give a fillip to employment generation opening doors for being an export hub too sooner than later. It doesn’t advocate a Self-Centred ecosystem, but, concerns for global prosperity and happiness. The recent revelations of Lithium-ion reserves in the Indian states of J&K and Rajasthan have been welcoming news for investors and technology players to look towards India with hope and assurance.
Q Will THE BATTERY SHOW INDIA help Indian manufacturers to learn new technologies from their international counterparts?
For sure……More than 100% for the very rationale that the Indian edition is the brand extension of heritage inculcated from Battery Show USA and Europe and the top technology players, and manufacturers have already started making beelines for the show. Am extremely thankful to the stakeholders for making the launch edition a runaway success already. The next big thrust is to carve out a knowledge- driven conference wherein the global thought leaders will unleash their domain expertise and share it with the Indian community.
In the ongoing edition, the major push is to have the core of the new generation battery technologies, the Advanced Chemistry Cells, Battery safety features and recycling technologies. Will be adding EVs and HEVs in the next edition or so
The Indian Government has brought overall optimism to the EV industry. Can you share anecdotal preferences to support it?
The magnitude of optimism is immense as of this moment as Energy Storage is the next big thing in this industry. From the generation of clean energy to storing the same is the motto to which our upcoming events in REI + Battery Show will do full justice. There are so many such anecdotes to support the optimism that the Government of India has brought to the table. A few of these are :
• EV 30 @ 30: To reach 30 % sales share for EVs by 2030 presenting a cumulative investment opportunity of US$ 266 Bn. This also aligns with the broader goals of reducing the carbon intensity of its economy by 45% by 2030 as announced at COP26
