Jamna Auto Industries (JAI), a leading leaf spring manufacturer and a pioneer in parabolic springs in India, launched at the Truck Trailer & Tyre Expo held at Gandhinagar in Gujarat, its allied components like U-Bolt, spring pin, bush and a bolt with nut, specifically for the Indian trucking aftermarket.
“In the aftermarket segment, JAI has been providing parabolic and conventional springs for a long time. We are now also focusing on sale of allied products along with parts related to lift axles and air suspensions-which Jamna has been supplying to some OEMs. We are contemplating the production of Z springs for export market and stabiliser bars for the Indian aftermarket,” said Mr. Bhupesh Kumar Mehta, Vice President, Aftermarket, in an exclusive interaction with MOTORINDIA.
The journey for JAI has been excellent in the last couple of years, especially in the aftermarket as the company, according to Mr. Mehta, who is overseeing the aftermarket division for the last two years, has been doing exceptionally well.
“GST and E-Way bill have helped streamline and organize the aftermarket and now we are enjoying the fruits of the two initiatives taken by the Government.”
It is evident that through its focus on the aftermarket the company has strategically de-risked the business by not merely focusing on OEMs.
“The best way to de-risk the cyclical nature of the OEM business is to focus also on the aftermarket. From a strategic point of view, it is important that we increase our share of the aftermarket. Among the organized players we are the No.1 in the industry” he said.
“By and large, our success lies in the manufacturing footprint of Jamna. Our dedication to treat the aftermarket as an important business and to have an exclusive manufacturing plant for it is paying us rich dividends. Today, we have also diversified our chain of channel partners. We have 250-odd distributors and about 11,000 mechanics associated with us through loyalty programs, and are adding new retailers to our database,” Mr. Mehta disclosed.
Having participated for the second consecutive year in the Truck Trailer and Tyre Expo, Mr. Mehta is all praise for the event. He said: “It is a great platform for the truck and trailer industry, and we have made sure that we make full use of the platform by introducing new products for the truck and trailer industry.”
