Signs MoU with MAS and TVS OESL
India’s largest and one of the world’s top three manufacturers of conventional leaf springs and parabolic springs for automobiles, Jamna Auto Industries Ltd. (JAI), has added yet another feather in its cap by signing an MoU with Madras Auto Service (MAS) and TVS OESL, of the TVS Group, in Chennai recently. With this, the TVS companies are authorized to distribute Jamna Auto’s products in the entire Southern region, in the states of Telangana, Seemandhra, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Kerala, with the exception of Tamil Nadu, which shall be added very soon.
In spite of the persisting slowdown, JAI had put up a committed performance during the year 2013-14 and continued its dominance in the domestic market in conventional leaf springs and parabolic springs and further expanded its product portfolio by introducing lift axles and air-suspension. The company is a major player in the CV industry having significant interest in the M&HCV space. It is a 100 per cent OE supplier to Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Bharat Benz, Eicher Motors, Volvo Trucks and AMW.
In an exclusive interview to MOTORINDIA in Chennai, Mr. Madhukar Sharma, Global Head (After Market), JAI, seen obviously elated with the latest milestone achieved, said: “We have a market share of more than 70 per cent for our products with major OEMs. In the South our aftermarket segment has not been doing very well here. We have been looking out for a reliable distributor in this region who can take our products to different shelves in various corners. With this MoU we are confident that we can achieve our goal of 30 per cent share in the aftermarket segment in the next couple of years. We will try to take this association to greater heights in a phased manner and hope our share improves in this market.”
Almost any CV manufacturer who forays into India prefers JAI for its leaf springs, which are superior in quality to any other in the market. “There is not much of competition for us in parabolic suspensions. We are the only ones in the organized sector. We are also planning to export our products to global OEMs very soon” he added.
Jamna Auto Group has six facilities spread across the country giving it a distinctive logistic advantage of delivering its products to customers when in need and thereby making it very competitive in terms of cost. The company is coming up with expansion at its facility in Hosur. Briefing on the new facility Mr. Sharma said: “It will be a state-of-the-art facility which will feed majorly the export market and leading global MNCs for heavy parabolic springs. We have made a big investment in the facility and look for to getting it operational.”
