Mr. Jayant Phatak, who has taken as CEO of KUKA Systems (India) in October last, joined the group in April 2009 and was initially heading Design & Engineering and later Operations. He has equipped himself with all the management & HR skills to run KUKA.
Mr. Phatak started his career with Tata Motors after obtaining his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune. Being a hardcore mechanical engineer, he initially gained experience in CNC machine tools, but later Body in White (BIW) has become his favorite domain. He holds an upper hand in design and engineering. For the last two decades, he has been serving the Tata Group, the Fiat Group and the KUKA Group.
During this tenure and his domicile in Italy, he has participated in, and successfully executed projects for the European Engine Alliance (EEA) in Europe, CNH in the US, Shanghai General Motors in China, Volkswagen in South Africa and FIAT in Italy.
In India, Mr. Phatak has done complete body shops for Daimler Commercial Vehicles, Chennai, and Ford India. In addition, he has executed more than 70 small to medium projects for Toyota, GM, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Volkswagen, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Eicher, Ashok Leyland and other automotive industries, Indian Railways and general industry. He is known for his excellent work in the BIW industry.
Apart from technical interests, Mr. Phatak has a good command over the Italian language. Motorbiking is another passion for him. Besides his other cross-country motorbike rides, he recently participated in India Bike Week held in Goa on January 17 and 18.
