The buses are equipped with all modern features and are part of the Delhi Government’s initiative to have 400 such buses on the city’s roads
As many as 100 low-floor air-conditioned CNG JBM-manufactured ‘CITYLIFE’ city buses were flagged off recently from the Rajghat Bus Depot in New Delhi by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This bus service has been rolled out under a cluster scheme for the first time in New Delhi. The Transport Department, Government of Delhi will be rolling out a total of 400 such buses in various phases across the city. The buses, manufactured by JBM Auto Ltd., run on compressed natural gas (CNG) and are equipped with all modern features like real-time passenger information system, panic buttons for emergency, automatic bus vehicle location system, CCTV cameras, public address system, stop request buttons and wheel chair ramp, to name a few.
Dedicated pink colour seats have been provisioned for women passengers in these buses. Its real-time passenger information system shall keep the location of the bus updated for the passengers travelling in the bus. Safety features such as CCTV cameras have been installed inside the bus that will aid in uninterrupted surveillance of activities inside the buses. Passengers can use the stop request button to alert the driver to stop the bus at an upcoming bus stop. The buses have 36 seats with nine reserved exclusively for women passengers along with provision of dedicated space for a wheelchair-bound passenger. The bus design also facilitates more head room for standing passengers in the rear part of the bus.
JBM CITYLIFE bus incorporates other utility features such as vehicle health monitoring system, fire detection and suppression system, public address system and a kneeling mechanism wherein the bus kneels 60 mm towards the passengers’ door side to facilitate boarding and de-boarding of senior citizens, children and the specially-abled. For drivers, the ergonomically designed dashboard provides an intuitive and user-friendly system that allows drivers to concentrate on driving without distractions, which makes it a truly global product. CITYLIFE buses have been successfully plying in Gurugram, Noida and Greater Noida for over two years now and are also in operation at the Delhi International Airport.
