Rajesh Rajgor explains the factors that contribute to the business’ stellar reputation and their recent vehicle order from Jagdamba Trailers in this exclusive interview with Tapas Panigrahi, Managing Director, Kalyani Transco
For important power and steel factories in and around Odisha, Kalyani Transco, a Jharsuguda, Odisha-based Corporation, transports fly ash and coal. Vedanta Ltd, Hindalco Industries Ltd., NTPC, Jindal Power Ltd., and others are some of their key customers.
The company, which was founded in 2005 but began as a small operation, developed fast and steadily under the able direction of Tapas Panigrahi. Today, the business has an impressive fleet of more than 300 trailers and an annual turnover of Rs. 200 crore. “Customer centricity is at the heart of our business, and it is this conviction that has propelled the company to forge enduring connections. The speed of delivery, which enables the carrier to provide on-time delivery, is one of the key components of the supply chain. Prior to starting a transport trip, it is important to have a clear understanding of deliverables, production timelines, etc., due to the constantly growing customer demand for same-day and next-day delivery. The company implemented Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery, an inventory management approach, in order to efficiently run the business and satisfy consumers. JIT delivery helps promote quicker order fulfilment and has specific applications in raw material orders as well as production.
“All of our vehicles are fitted with telematics, fuel monitoring, and GPS systems. Additionally, we use manual techniques each month to confirm travel and vehicle data, the entire process of loading, unloading, and monitoring the vehicles. To ensure timely delivery, we analyse vehicle performance and driver behavior while in motion,” reveals Panigrahi.
Because of an ambitious perspective, Kalyani Transco is procuring 200 tip-trailers from Jagdamba Trailers in Raigarh. In Central India, Jagdamba is a well-known producer of many types of trailers, including tip-trailers.
