Kaveri Tyres is one of the prominent dealers of various leading tyre brands like Apollo, Bridgestone, Michelin, etc. According to the recent Court Order, the agencies that issue fitness certificates (FCs) for commercial vehicles must inspect the entire vehicle properly to see that it fully meets the norms and conditions set by the Government.
Though FCs for commercial vehicles were so far issued by the Regional Transport Authorities in Maharashtra, Kaveri Tyres has been recently approved to conduct testing on behalf of the Government. This is another feather on the cap of Kaveri Tyres which is well-known in tyre trading circles for several years.
In an informal chat with MOTORINDIA, Mr. Shashikant Kumbhar, Proprietor, Kaveri Tyres, said the company has invested around Rs. 4 crores for the testing facility located at Nhava Seva Road, Navi Mumbai. Inaugurated on April 17 by Mr. Sharad Jichkar, Regional Transport Officer, Panvel, the facility currently provides all the testing needs required for issuance of fitness certificate, such as wheel alignment from Hunter, brake testing from Snap On, electrical (headlight) testing & pollution check-up, etc.
With a workforce of 30, the entire testing is done by the well-trained workforce. The testing centre with all modern facilities now undertakes 60-80 vehicles per day. The company has plans to expand its operations to the adjoining areas in Maharashtra, he added.
