KB AutoTech India presented its full range of HVAC systems and compressors for bus and coach applications to woo OEMs and body builders. A subsidiary of the South Korea-based KB AutoTech, the company has its manufacturing plant in Thiruvallur district on the outskirts of Chennai rolling out air-conditioning systems since last one year.
“KB AutoTech has been developing innovative and tech-superior automotive air-conditioning and heat exchanger systems for over four decades in Asian markets, and is a major supplier to Hyundai for its commercial vehicles and construction equipment, Kia Motors and Mitsubishi Fuso, to name a few”, said Mr. Jong-Sung Kim, Managing Director, KB AutoTech India.
In India, the company is supplying AC systems to Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Daimler India (BharatBenz).
According to company sources, the India-made roof-top AC systems for buses boast a localization level of up to 85 per cent, while the compressors are sourced from Korea.
Its product range in India covers small, medium and large categories suitable for 6-metre to 14-metre large buses. All its compressors and roof-top units are compact and are designed for utmost efficiency.
Asked about the market scenario in India right now, Mr. Kim said that although several new players are trying to enter the Indian bus market, the potential and opportunities are still quite vast.
“At present, not more than 10 per cent of buses in India are air-conditioned, and it is estimated that this share would go up to around 30 per cent in the upcoming years, thereby opening new avenues for suppliers”, he added.
