In fiscal 2012, the Knorr-Bremse Group once again posted sales of more than EUR 4 billion. In a difficult international business environment, sales moved ahead by one per cent to EUR 4.3 billion (2011: EUR 4.2 billion).
The Rail Vehicle Systems Division posted slight growth in 2012 as sales reached EUR 2.22 billion (2011: EUR 2.19 billion). Positive impetus in the year under review was generated by the North American region, where both the passenger and freight markets showed an upturn.
The Commercial Vehicle Systems Division reported sales of EUR 2.10 billion in 2012, also slightly ahead of the previous year’s EUR 2.07 billion. The division benefited from growth in North America, which offset a weak market environment in Europe in the second half-year in particular.
