Aimed at addressing bus operators’ concern regarding leakages, Lamilux India showcased a single piece, fully-blended GRP material at Prawaas. Mr. Oliver Liebsch, Managing Director, Lamilux India Pvt. Ltd., said: “We are very happy with the response to our product, at Prawaas in the first two days as it was received well with the operators, who understood the need for such material to avoid leakages they face. They are the end customer and hence communicate the same to the bus-body builders.” As BS-VI is nearing it is evident that most operators are looking at products that can help them save cost in the long run, increase payload, reduce weight of the vehicle and enable substantial return on investments. The crowd at Lamilux’s booth was testimony on the benefits they were seeking from the solution provider.
Mr. Rohan Bellikatti, Regional Technical Sales Manager, South India and Sri Lanka, Lamilux, added: “This exhibition has been spectacular in terms of the response and the level of readiness shown by the operators from across India, to try products that helps them make a sustainable business proposition. The new roofing solution can help the body builders and fleet operators instantly who currently spend a lot, especially using more than one unit by welding it. This one unit can be handy even for the corner joints and as Oliver mentioned is quite lightweight with high impact resistance.”
Ever since, Lamilux has invested the Indian market, it has made efforts to educate its customers in the correct use of their products. Even for the new joint free product they inform the customers and guide them for the required radius. “For Single sheet roofs we have certain radius for Bus Corners (Corner Profiles) that we recommend which is 120 mm to 150 mm and that is ideal for fixing the GRP Roof which could resolve current leakage issue that the operators are facing. We have been able to convey to the customer that we are not just selling the GRP but a complete solution thill they experience a complete return on investment,” explained Mr. Bellikatti.
There has been a visible slow down but Rohan believes the sales to pick up in the coming months driven primarily by the expected pre-buy before BS-VI kicks in next April. He added: “Last quarter could see a ramp up of sales as even the bus body builders would want to fulfill the orders before the BS-VI implementation happens from April 1. Even in the BS-VI regime they would be looking for a total cost of ownership from their vehicles than just at the acquisition cost.”
Prawaas proved to be a fruitful platform for Lamilux. Not only did they successfully interact with customers to sensitize them about the right use of their products, but also gained confidence to continue their growth in India. “We have our internal targets and we ensure that we grow with the market. We are confident about our strong material & efficient technical team that will help us continue our growth story, while handholding the customers towards sustainable and quality vehicles,” concluded Mr. Liebsch.
