Says Mr. D. Baburaj, Head – Marketing, Lucas TVS: “Lucas TVS, with the strength of our 200+ engineers in R&D and our state-of-the-art development and test facilities, has developed products not only for the Indian market but also for global requirements. As the markets open up, we are working to expand our global presence faster and hence showcasing our products at global exhibitions like this one (IAA).”

Says Mr. G. Anantharaman, Head – Engineering, Lucas TVS: “At Lucas TVS, we are geared up for future mobility applications. On the traditional IC engine side, we have introduced a new range of products including starter motors, alternators and smart wipers ready for Euro VI (BS-VI) requirements in terms of light-weighting, higher efficiency and smart features. We also have products in ancillary applications like power steering, ABS, four-wheel to two-wheel transmission and number of actuators for different applications such as for urea pump for emission applications.”

Sharing details on some of Lucas TVS’ existing business in mature global markets, Mr. Anantharaman says: “We started supplies to an air suspension manufacturer in Europe around seven years ago and currently supply about one million motors every year.”

“In the US market, our focus is on specific solutions such as heavy-duty wipers and special mechatronic products.” he added.

The TVS Group company is known for its technical know-how which it is bringing to the fore to cater to the growing demand for superior technology and advanced engineering products both in the Indian market and also globally. Lucas TVS had grabbed the limelight at the Auto Expo earlier this year with its solutions for EVs which were also displayed at its booth at the IAA.

Mr. N. S. Ramanathan, Head – Advanced Engineering, Lucas TVS, shares: “On the electrification side, we have developed a 48 V belt-driven starter generator system, as P0 application, which can perform start-stop, regeneration, and torque boost. We also have products in the pipeline for P2, P3, P4 applications for the next stage of hybridization which will result in substantial fuel efficiency, of around 15 per cent, along with significant CO2 reduction.”

In the e-mobility space in India, Lucas TVS’ focus has been on e-rickshaws, e-Autos and e-two-wheelers. Most electric motors used in Indian e-vehicles are imported from China and come with low reliability and are not designed for Indian applications.

Keen on improving the quality levels, Lucas TVS is working with the primary aim of offering the best value proposition to customers by designing products to suit Indian applications and optimizing its product to get better charge per km – with a good regeneration, the company claims that its motor is capable of delivering close to 18 per cent more charge compared to any other ‘good’ Chinese product.
