The Great Place to Work (GPTW) Institute has certified Lucas TVS Ltd. as one of India’s best workplaces in the automotive and automotive components industry. The organisation is bound by a high – trust and high-performance culture, built around customer focus, employee involvement, innovation and ethical practices. Lucas TVS has won this coveted recognition for having unflinchingly faced the rising challenges and stiff competition in 2021. With a strong belief that their employees are their most valued assets who are contributing individually and collectively towards the achievement of their business goals, Lucas TVS initiated a programme six months back called ‘Winning Culture’.
In this programme, young engineers and executives are encouraged to showcase their innovation and success stories. There was participation from the entire leadership team of the group under the stewardship of the chairman and managing director. Employee engagement is the one attribute which significantly enhances individual productivity, resulting in increased growth potential. Needless to mention, at Lucas TVS employees are like family, inculcated with the high values of a culture of excellence and an adherence to systems which have been inherited right from the day every employee becomes a part of the organisation.

This is done through a certification process and by capturing employee feedback. The high values of trust and compassion towards employees could not be any more evident than in the handling of the current pandemic since its emergence in the last 18 months. A team of 300 ensured round-the-clock health and safety for all employees working in the organisation including temporary and contract staff. Various precautionary measures like continuous and periodical channels of communication on the new normal guidelines through various digital and offline modes were also organised.
A complete support to corona virus-affected employees was provided including ambulance pickup and drop, assistance in medical counselling through arrangement of medicines and food deliveries, home quarantine facility for families, etc. Employees were educated and made aware through artificial intelligence (AI) on importance and adherence of social distancing at the workplace which resulted in 98% achievement and is a benchmark across the industry. A self-declaration form (SDF) system was started online where all employees had to declare their health aspects on a daily basis.
Vaccination camps were set up at the factory to ensure that 100% of the employees, their families as well as supplier-partners got vaccinated. Apart from this, tie-ups with hospitals were also arranged to provide medical treatment to affected employees. In addition, Lucas TVS has actively contributed to the CM and PM relief funds as well as funded quarantine and vaccination centres for the public besides providing ventilators, oxygen plants and other medical supplies to local government hospitals.
