Lucas-TVS Ltd., India’s largest auto electrical manufacturer, has been selected for Deming Grand Prize for 2012 by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE).
This is a prestigious Award given to companies for the application of TQM approach in all their business processes with a focus on customer orientation, continuous improvement and Total Employee involvement.
The Deming examiners from JUSE carried out a critical three-day audit before recommending the company for the prize.
Lucas-TVS launched TQM movement in 1998 and secured Deming Application Prize in 2004 for its TQM commitment and appreciation, with distinction.
Deming Grand Prize is the next higher level of Award, and the company now has joined the elite group of 25 organisations worldwide that have been so far awarded this prize. The Award will be formally conferred at a special ceremony to be held in Japan in November.
According to Dr. N. Ravichandran, CEO, Lucas-TVS, who has been in the forefront of the company’s TQM initiatives, said: “Deming Grand Prize is another milestone in our TQM journey. This recognition enhances our responsibilities in meeting the growing expectations of our esteemed customers. But for the dedicated efforts and team work of our employees, coupled with the support of our valued customers, suppliers and other stake holders, this recognition could not have been achievable. Our journey needs to continue to keep pace with the dynamic global standards”.
