Make GST an effective tax system: AIMO

The All India Manufacturers’ Organization (AIMO) and the manufacturing community are quite keen to have the right GST across the country to achieve growth in manufacturing with the ease of doing business to enhance employment opportunities. In this regard, they formed an expert committee to analyse the regulations of the proposed GST in terms of its implementation and identify critical focus areas.

A press meet was arranged recently by AIMO in Chennai to create better awareness and clarity on GST. It was presided over by the State Board Chairman, Mr. Srinivasan, the National President, Mr. K.E. Raghunathan, and the Secretary, Mr. Vinod Surana. It urged the Centre to look into the listed 16 points and make GST an effective tax system.

In the present form GST will hurt the tiny, micro, small, medium and large enterprises the most and would go against the Centre’s stated objective of improving the ease of doing business and giving a push to the ‘Make in India’ campaign.

According to AIMO, the exercise will be done in all the State capitals and major cities, and the recommendations will be sent through the National President to the Finance Ministry.
