Himachal Pradesh would soon become the first state in the country to ply electric buses on the Manali-Rohtang route and later these buses would also be introduced in other areas to reduce air pollution. After BYD conducted and completed trials with the controversial left hand driven K7, Ashok Leyland also finished its trails with its electric bus, Circuit on Manali-Rohtang stretch.
Ashok Leyland launched its range of Circuit and JMEV series electric buses in October 2016 claiming India’s first made electric bus. After showcasing the buses to KSRTC and BEST Mumbai, the buses were under trial by HRTC on Manali-Rohtang stretch for 10 days. HRTC has placed tenders for purchasing 25 electric buses and final the product will be chosen between K7 and Circuit.
