Maniar & Co., a leading manufacturer of waste handling equipment, mobile cranes and hydraulic access platforms, has introduced a 180° tipper on an SCV. The product was the highlight of not only the Maniar pavilion but also the Truck Trailer and Tyre Expo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
MOTORINDIA had published news a few months ago regarding Maniar’s plan for exploring different applications. Having established its competencies with various equipment and on many vehicle platforms the company was keen on the tipper segment. “We want to get into material handling cranes, precisely knuckle boom cranes mounted on trucks and construction tippers and hopefully should be ready with a prototype in a couple of years”, reiterated Mr. Iqbal Maniar, Vice President, Maniar & Co., when he was congratulated him at the expo.
USP & innovation
The light-weight tipper on a small commercial vehicle had an Aerial Work platform of 9.5 meters working height and 180° rear dumping tipper on a Tata Ace platform. “Replica of the same can be made on an HCV, giving way to the usually designed side wall or traditional tippers with rear opening. This will give a lot of ease to the driver, as the vehicle can be stationed in one place and only the tipper body will have to be moved. The concept has been appreciated by one and all here at the exhibition,” explained Mr. Maniar.
There are many lanes and bylanes where there are a lot of obstacles for the vehicle to turn, but this rotatable tipper body can easily do the job. Another USP of the product is that it is made of special steel (Domex) which doesn’t compromise on the tensile strength but gives an overall light weight. The tipper is also denting free. There is no issue with RTO as gvw is not compromised.
Skyman was another product displayed by the company. With a nine metre height again with special steel. “Booms strength were enhanced with the use of hexagonal boom special domex steel also helped us reduce 250 kg weight. We have made this on Tata Ace under 1550 kg gvw, so it is safe as per RTO. A lot of corporates and power plant industry are buying it. We have variants like the articulated design as well as telescopic, articulated-cum-telescopic design. Instead of importing from Europe or the UK, people buy our products which adhere to the British standards incorporating safety features and the European designs,” beamed Mr. Maniar.
The company will soon be opening a new plant in Dholka, some 40 km away from its current facility at Rakhial in Ahmedabad, as it expects demand for 5000 waste management and material handling equipments, including tippers, as compared to the current 800-1000 units per year.
“Smart cities will need good infrastructure and better equipments and we feel we have a distinct advantage in the solid waste management segment as well as the growing trailer segment. Trailers and tippers will have good potential going forward, and we look forward to providing innovative solutions in the our highest capacity,” added Mr. Maniar.
