International team showcases knowledge and expertise for a wide variety of challenges inherent in modern commercial vehicles
IAA Commercial Vehicles is one of the most important international trade fairs in the industry for MANN+HUMMEL. Particularly so 
because the event offers the filtration experts an opportunity to make direct contact with customers from all over the world and to show them both new and already established products. This year, these also include numerous innovations and a selection of current series products from the worldwide product range. The highlight of this year’s exhibition stand are the special presenters, which demonstrate the innovations, design or function of the company’s various products in an illustrative way.
Filter media models: Tailored filtration media for worldwide use
The media presenter for the topic of filter models shows the structural design of our air, cabin, oil and fuel filters. Modern filter media provide effective protection against allergies and pollutants for people and against premature wear for engines. Depending on the application and requirement, they can consist of cellulose fiber, synthetic fibers or a combination of different layers with adapted properties. Because the structural differences in the media are not visible to the naked eye, the filter media model on the MANN+HUMMEL stand is shown magnified 250 times.
Fuel filtration: Multi-stage water separation for protection of modern diesel injection systems in commercial vehicles
Modern diesel engines deliver vastly enhanced performance and a significant improvement in efficiency in terms of emissions behaviour and fuel consumption. In order to achieve such improvements, modern common rail injection systems operate at injection pressures exceeding 2,500 bar. Ever higher injection pressures place increasing demands with regard to the separation of water contained in diesel fuel. The special presenter for this topic shows the operating principle of the 3-stage water separation, which can assist in the face of these challenges.
Air filtration: Optimum utilisation of available installation space through various concepts
Although classic filter concepts for commercial vehicles are very effective, they require appropriate space for installation and service. However, because the available space in the engine area is continuously decreasing, MANN+HUMMEL offers new concepts here. Examples are the EXALIFE and VarioPleat concepts.
Using the EXALIFE concept enables air filters to be installed in narrow, flat installation spaces. For the areas of pleat height and pleat height variability, the staff at the stand will refer to the special presenter for the technically advanced VarioPleat air filter concept. Compared to conventional elements of this design, the variable pleat height enables a far better utilisation of the available installation space than previously.
Cabin filters: Protection for driver and vehicle
In vehicles as well, susceptible occupants are increasingly experiencing allergic reactions caused by pollen, bacteria and mould fungi. In addition to air filters for engine air filtration, MANN+HUMMEL therefore also offers a wide range of air filters for cabin air filtration in commercial vehicles. These reliably protect the driver in his cab against dust, soot particles and pollutants, but also against pollen. As the vehicle cab represents the daily workplace for the driver, this is a way of more effectively protecting it against harmful environmental influences.
