MathWorks concluded its Automotive Conference 2026 India in Pune, bringing together automotive engineers, researchers, industry leaders, customers, partners and academia to discuss how Agentic AI, Model-Based Design, virtual engineering and simulation are reshaping vehicle development.

The conference focused on how engineering organisations are integrating AI agents with simulation, software development, testing, verification and validation to improve productivity while maintaining safety, quality and engineering standards. Discussions covered scenario-based simulation for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), virtual vehicle development and software-defined vehicle architectures.
Delivering the customer keynote, Mr. Piyush Agrawal, Executive Vice President, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, spoke about the automotive industry’s rapid transformation, highlighting the growing importance of software, systems engineering and disciplined engineering processes in enabling the next generation of mobility.
Mr. Wensi Jin, Global Automotive Industry Manager at MathWorks, explained how combining Model-Based Design with Agentic AI can help engineers manage increasing system complexity and accelerate product development.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Sunil Motwani, Country Manager – Sales and Service, MathWorks India, said the conference reflected the industry’s growing interest in applying Agentic AI across the engineering lifecycle. He noted that companies are now moving beyond experimentation and exploring how AI can assist engineers while meeting the stringent safety and quality requirements of automotive systems.
Industry experts from Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Elxsi, Madras Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd. and other organisations shared practical use cases involving cloud-based simulations, AI-assisted Model-Based Design and virtual testing. A panel discussion also explored AI governance, validation requirements and the evolving role of engineers in software-driven vehicle development.
The conference concluded with a technology showcase featuring live demonstrations of AI-assisted engineering workflows, automated driving development, virtual vehicle engineering, software-defined vehicle architectures, battery thermal management system design, and software factory workflows powered by MATLAB and Simulink.
