This includes checking lights, indicators, parking lights, back lights, and the battery. Amit’s skill in wiring is crucial, especially when the trucks return loaded and ready for their next trip.
One of the most common issues Amit deals with is related to the truck’s lighting systems, especially during the rainy season when water can cause short circuits and fuse problems. However, Amit’s experience allows him to quickly identify and fix these problems, ensuring the trucks are ready to go with minimal delay.
Amit recalls a particularly challenging incident when the wiring of newly installed cameras on the trucks was causing problems. The contractor’s initial installation was faulty, leading to frequent issues. Amit took charge, redoing the wiring with better quality materials. “We reinstalled it with better wiring, and it worked perfectly,” he says. His solution not only fixed the problem but also improved the overall reliability of the system.
Safety is a big concern for Amit, both for himself and the drivers he works with. He stresses the importance of covering battery terminals to prevent accidental short circuits, which could be dangerous. Despite the long hours, which can extend beyond 7 PM on busy days, Amit remains passionate about his work. He services around 7-8 trucks daily, ensuring each one is ready for its next journey. His role is supported by a team of specialized mechanics who handle different parts of the trucks, such as the engine, clutch, and steering.
Amit’s dedication extends beyond his work at Chetak Logistics. He keeps himself updated with new technologies and electrical systems, ensuring he can handle any new challenges that come his way. While he has not planned far ahead into the future, Amit remains open to the idea of starting something on his own someday.
In his personal life, Amit finds joy in simple pleasures. He listens to music on his phone and enjoys watching devotional programs. His family, including his mother, is supportive and proud of his work. “My family is happy with my work,” he shares. Amit hails from a village in Hisar.
