Motul is one of the largest independent lubricant companies operating in more than 90 countries worldwide. The Motul brand, established in 1853, is one of the oldest and most trusted lubricant brands.
Specialising in the production and distribution of lubricants with a high-added technical value, the company is a pioneer in high technology lubricants that meet the stringent requirements of modern engines. It was also the first company in the world to introduce a 100 per cent synthetic, ester-based lubricant.
Motul products have the approval of most of the global OEMs like Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, Ford, Renault, MAN, Cummins, Volvo, Scania, to name a few.
With research and development at its core, Motul offers a wide range of lubricants to meet the requirements of every type of engine/application. Its R&D Division is divided into two units, working in automotive and industrial lubricants. The R&D Centre in France and the Centre of Excellence in Japan work very closely with automobile manufacturers in areas like development of new lubricants, research focusing on racing and future technologies.
The company was the first to introduce a multigrade engine oil in 1953, a semi-synthetic engine oil in 1966, an ester-based 100 per cent synthetic lubricant in 1971, the synthetic, biodegradable 2-stroke engine oil in 1972, low viscosity grade oil in 1983 and the biodegradable 4-stroke engine oil in 1992.
Again, Motul was the first lubricant manufacturer to recognize and use this technology in the formulation of 100 per cent synthetic automotive lubricants. The brand’s reputation in product quality and performance is based on the know-how and experience of the group engineers in the formulation of ester-based 100 per cent synthetic lubricants. The year 2004 marked the emergence of Double Ester Technology in the 300V Motorsport range.
The esters used in Motul products have outstanding properties and offer the following benefits over conventional synthetic lubricants:
Motul has a long and close association with motorsports, the most effective method of communicating the brand values. Its involvement at the highest level of motorsports with Factory teams has resulted in products like 300V Factory Line.
