ExpertSpeak – Mr. V. Arun Bhaskar, Manager – Marketing, Sales & IT, Nabtesco India, talks about their flagship products: “We have a product for anything that is mobile in the world. Nabtesco makes precision gear boxes for robots and we enjoy 60 per cent of the global market share, and 60 per cent of the total robot sales is for the automotive industry. When it comes to the CE sector, we manufacture track motors, swing motors and control valves for excavators, and in that we have a 30 per cent global market share. In India though we own 40-50 per cent of the CE market.”

Market Ready – Nabtesco’s robotic technology is used in the automotive industry in the welding lines, paint shots and in BIW – Body In White – assembly where the parts are welded. On an average, the company sells around 2000-3000 robots in India every year. He shares: “In India there are a few players currently, and some OEMs are slowly starting to show interest. They are designing new robots with our gear boxes.”

Roadmap Ahead – Plans ahead include penetrating further into the CE and the automotive industry in India. To achieve it, Nabtesco is looking at setting up warehouses to stock and sell their products and be closer to the customers. He says: “We are also looking at setting up a manufacturing facility in India in the next five years or so. The market in India is tough because it is highly cost sensitive. Aftermarket sales is another area in the CE segment that Nabtesco is keen to enter.

Product Highlight – Talking about the company products, Mr. Arun Bhaskar shares: “We make planetary gear systems with hydraulic motors. In excavators, the machines need space under the carriage for ground clearance and hence power must be transmitted using hydraulic motors. Further, in excavators, the rough terrain takes a toll on the belt, the drive, the swing and the motor as compared to other parts failing in the long work life the machines undergo. Since we a market leader in this aspect also, Nabtesco is ready with these solutions as well.”

Nabtesco, with its strong strategies to cater to the CE sector with robust solutions, is sure to sail ahead of competition for sure.
