Nippon Paint Unveils Futuristic Eco-Friendly Coating Solutions

Nippon Paint made a significant impact at Prawaas 4.0 by participating as an exhibitor for the first time. This year marked a pivotal moment as they showcased cutting-edge coating technologies that cater to the bus body and commercial vehicle segment. “It was the right time for us to exhibit since this platform brings together all major OEMs in the industry,” said Rakesh Handoo, General Manager of Marketing and New Business Development.

At the event, Nippon introduced several technologies that focus on sustainability and efficiency, including their advanced water-based system for commercial vehicles. Navin Chawla, General Manager of Key Accounts (Commercial Vehicles and Body-shop) BU, noted, “We’ve introduced the water-based system, a game-changer for electric vehicles. It’s an eco-friendly, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) system aimed at reducing environmental impact.” Nippon Paint’s innovative solutions are designed to meet the evolving needs of the industry, with technology that’s 10 years ahead of its time, including low-VOC primers and topcoats.

One of the standout offerings was the heat-reflective coating. As Chawla explained, “In peak summers, metal surfaces of vehicles can reach up to 65°C, causing internal temperatures to rise drastically. Our heat-reflective coating can reduce interior temperatures by 6-15°C, making a real difference in passenger comfort and reducing the load on air conditioning systems.”

In addition to their environmental benefits, Nippon’s technologies are designed to be cost-effective for fleet operators. The transition from traditional three-coat systems to a more efficient two-coat wet-on-wet system has led to considerable savings in manpower, consumables, and time. “It’s not just about reducing costs; it’s about providing holistic solutions that improve efficiency,” Handoo emphasized.

Nippon Paint’s commitment to customer satisfaction extends beyond product innovation. Their robust after-sales service was highlighted as a key differentiator in the market. “Our dedicated technical team supports customers across India, ensuring any issues are resolved quickly, whether it’s rectifying damage during transit or providing hands-on training,” Chawla noted.

Looking ahead, Nippon Paint aims to become a dominant player in the commercial vehicle industry in the next two years, driven by their commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions. As Handoo concluded, “Our technologies are not only futuristic but also designed to be affordable. The response from customers has been tremendous, and we are excited about the future.”
