Jamna Auto Industries Ltd. (JAI) has developed parabolic springs for the U-Truck. The U trucks have option to have parabolic springs on the front Axle. Currently, parabolic springs are standard on the tractor and in the next phase it will be introduced in the rigid trucks in the next phase.Since maintenance of these springs is critical and different from conventional springs, Ashok Leyland is involving JAI’s R&D; team to train the field staff to ensure that springs are maintained properly to get maximum benefit of this new technology suspension.
With the successful introduction of these springs on U Trucks, Ashok Leyland and JAI’s technical teams are working together to implement parabolic springs in other critical applications. Parabolic springs not only reduce weight of the springs but also improves springs life and vehicle ride.
