Paracoat’s Thailand plant to be operational in June

To vigorously market custom-built Terra vehicles

Since inception three decades ago, Paracoat Products Ltd. (PCP) has introduced high-value products of technology for the Indian automotive industry. Backed by its expertise, the company has its major focus on energy saving, recycling and innovative technology. One of the major exporters of components to GM, Thailand and Indonesia, and Toyota, Thailand, it is also the winner of the Zero PPM Award from Toyota and the Gold Award from Honda.

PCP’s strategic location enables the company to serve its customers across the country with minimum lead time and at competitive cost. PCP has its manufacturing facilities at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, Pune in Maharashtra, Hosur in Tamil Nadu and at Halol in Gujarat.

In an exclusive interview to MOTORINDIA, Mr. Rajesh Poddar, PCP Managing Director, said the company is currently setting up a new plant in Thailand in the name of Paracoat Asia with an estimated turnover of Rs. 10 crores. Production is scheduled to commence by June, and this new facility will meet the growing demand for the company products in Thailand as well as in the other Asian countries such as Indonesia, Australia, etc.

The company is also embarking on a major expansion-cum-modernisation programme at an investment of Rs. 14 crores in order mainly to meet the rising Indian demand for the products supplied. With this expansion, Paracoat Products is targeting a higher turnover of Rs. 200 crores by 2015 against the current Rs. 120 crores.

Increasing focus on commercial vehicles

He said his company is also the leading supplier of automotive components and accessories for various automobile manufacturers, including major commercial vehicle makers such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, AMW, Daimler, Eicher, MAN-Force and Mahindra Navistar, with added thrust on this segment.

Mr. Poddar further disclosed that PCP has diversified into custom-built vehicle manufacturing by establishing a new firm known as PCP Motors which has already developed Terra Home Car that was on display at Auto Expo 2012 as well as at Defence Expo held in New Delhi recently. This plant, coming up at the company’s new greenfield facility at Manesar, will attract an investment of Rs. 10 crores. While most of the components and accessories fitted in the vehicle are indigenised, PCP has entered into an agreement with Vantech of Japan for its design technology, while woodden particles are sourced from New Zealand. This concept vehicle, built on the platform of Mahindra Genio, is most ideal for travel and tour operators, corporate houses, Defence, entertainment, infrastructure-related companies, etc. Costing Rs. 35 lakhs, the vehicle comes with several attractive built-in features. Since PCP has already received several enquiries, order bookings for the much-awaited Terra concept vehicle will begin from June, he added.

Mr. Rajesh Poddar, with his rich experience in the field of automobiles, has put in a lot of meticulous effort in developing the concept vehicle and has his vision to make it a runaway success.

For instance, it has its technical collaboration with JSP Corporation of Japan for EPP, Aksys Gmbh of Europe for encapsulations & interior trim, Parker Corporation of Japan for expandable foams, Asahi Rubber Co. Ltd. of Japan for acoustics, Trelleborg Automotive of Europe for ADM pads, Temi Srl of Italy for heat shields, Bokwang Corporation of S. Korea for stiffeners, and with Adler Plastic of Europe for interiors & insulations.
