“New Dhruv” Quality Circle from Napino Auto & Electronics Ltd., Gurgaon, was conferred the ‘Winners Trophy’ of CII 25th Quality Circle Western U.P. Zonal Preliminary Competition 2012-2013 organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Noida recently. The first runner-up rolling trophy was awarded to “Utkarsh” Quality Circle from Denso India Ltd., and the second runner-up trophy was bagged by “Himgiri” Quality Circle from Bharat Electronics Ltd.
Mr. Mayank A. Gupta, Chairman, CII Western UP Zonal Council, and CEO & Director, Olympic Zippers Ltd., presented the awards to the winners. He complimented the participants for their commendable presentations.
The participating Quality Circles were judged on various aspects of quality circle activity like problem selection, analysis of a problem, identification of solution, presentation skills, team work and special features like innovation and creativity.
Mr. Bimal Tandon, Head Quality & Lean Manufacturing, Carrier Air-conditioning & Refrigeration Pvt. Ltd., who was also the chief judge, emphasized the importance of such competitions and said that Quality Circles not only improve the performance of any organization but also motivate and enrich the work life and productivity of employees. Such competitions provided a platform for these teams to share their experience and also learn from that of others.
As a part of the CII’s initiative in sensitizing Indian industry on issues of quality, the competition saw nine Quality Circles making presentations on the specific projects handled by them at their work place. The assessment of the presentation was made on a weighted scale covering different aspects of the Quality Circle activity.
Bharat Electronics Ltd., Continental Carbon India Ltd., Honda Siel Power Products, Denso India Ltd., Minda Corporation Ltd., Napino Auto & Electronics Ltd., and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd., were among the participants.
