Part of the Chennai-based business conglomerate Shriram Group, Rambal Ltd. has been in the manufacture of precision auto components since 1957. It began with shock absorbers with the collaboration of an Italian company, and over the years the company has developed expertise in a wide range of vehicular suspension systems and machined components.
Rambal is predominantly an export-oriented component supplier, with a majority of its exports going to the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Middle East and South East Asian markets. Now, the company is seeking exposure in the domestic market, especially among automakers and the local aftermarket. In this regard, it showcased many products – air suspension, electronic shock absorbers and gas springs – at the latest expo to gain some traction in the bus market.
“We would like to render our international capabilities and quality to the Indian market. Our overseas clients are extremely satisfied with our R&D and manufacturing expertise, in particular our ability to add value to our products based on unique customer requirements. That way, we can very well address the demands of the domestic market”, observed Mahesh Srinivasan, who is spearheading Rambal’s business development activities.
He added that the company has done extensive trial of the new products in over 50 vehicles spanning over 10 lakh km. “Our air suspension system is very effective in LCV and MCV platform buses of all leading OEMs. And the bus makers are showing great interest. We are already in talks with them for further collaboration”.
On the aftermarket front, the company has claimed to have received immense queries for its products from various bus body builders and fleet operators at the show.
