The Coimbatore-based Roots Auto Products Private Ltd., a Roots Group of Company, took part in Busworld India for the first time, displayed a plethora of auto electrical accessories and related products relevant for buses and coaches, including the latest tech items like GPS and vehicle tracking solutions.
“Busworld turned out to be a great platform to meet new customers at different levels, from across the country”, observed Mr. P. Prakash, Manager – Marketing, Roots Auto Products. He noted that a majority of visitors at the company stall were coach fabricators, dealers and retailers, STU representatives, and OEMs, including Volvo, Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Daimler India.
Asked about the product lines of the company catering to buses, he explained that most of the OEM sales these days involve products like DC-DC convertors, USB chargers, battery isolators, back-up alarms, alternators, electric horns, etc. Its clients include VECV, Mahindra Buses, Force Motors and Ashok Leyland (horns), among others. In the replacement market, bus body builders and private fleets demand halogen lamps for headlights, miniature lamps, battery, relays, wiring harness, switches, fuses, etc.
STU business predominantly consists of LED roof lights, wiper arms and blades, Modular type smart USB chargers, Automotive grade wires, and so on. “Since STUs demand effective horn solutions that also conform to motoring norms in city conditions, Roots offer ‘Cite Horn’ – an air horn with sound level 105 ± 5dB for city buses”, he said.
In fact, STUs like KSRTC and MSRTC were demanding dB meters for measuring air horns sound level and even asked Roots Auto to organize training programs for drivers on how to wisely use the horn, he added.
The company also showcased GPS ‘Track and Trace’ solutions including temperature sensors, RFID readers, and bio-metric finger print scanner that goes with the GPS systems. It can offer real-time tracking, geo-fencing and waypoint management, alert messages on over-speed, rash driving, device disconnection, and vehicle maintenance status.
The product is targeted at school bus and private tour fleets. Roots Auto has around 60 distributors pan India, with an effective marketing channels over 6,000, for aftermarket reach.
