Rubber hose supplier Zephyr targets profitable growth in India

With over 26 years of expertise in manufacturing rubber air and water hoses, Zephyr is without doubt one of the most recognized brands that supply top-notch products at competitive prices. A part of RMX Rubber Pvt. Ltd., Zephyr products are sold under the brand ‘BluBird’ outside India where it has its strong presence in the US and Europe.

One of Zephyr’s products, the auto retractable hose reel, has been voted as one among the top 22 best products in the US by AutoZone, a reputed auto aftermarket retailer, proving the company’s ability to deliver the best products at a global level. Quality assurances such as the above recognition have helped to make Zephyr the largest retractable hose manufacturer in the US.

In the Indian automotive market, Zephyr currently supplies its products exclusively to aftermarket garages and workshops. The company is planning to manufacture sprayers and quick connect couplers as an addition to the hose reels for garages.

Zephyr has formulated plans to bring its entire US product line to India and has already started executing the same. Its brand-new innovation, a ceiling mounted hose, which is made of 100 per cent rubber, is nearly 40 per cent lighter than other hoses in the market.

Talking exclusively to MOTORINDIA at the Auto Serve 2018 exhibition in Chennai, Mr. Rishav Rastogi, Director, Zephyr, said: “We launched our rubber hoses after three years of R&D and testing and have achieved 40 per cent reduction in weight through our formulation.”

With Zephyr taking part in an exclusive automotive trade fair for the very first time, the young Director was pleasantly surprised with the kind of response its products evoked at the show.

“We are confident about our prospects in the Indian aftermarket space, especially after the kind of response we’ve seen here from potential customers and buyers. Quite frankly, we did not expect people to be so open to our products, but they seem to appreciate the quality and are ready to pay for it. We believe our sales and profits in India will continue to grow and we will build a strong eco-system with our proven range of products and solutions”, he shared.

Zephyr sells close to 10,000 units every month worldwide and expects this number to go up significantly owing to its growing penetration in the Indian market. The company turnover has gone from a few lakhs during its initial years to an impressive figure of over Rs. 50 crores at present.
