The Society for Automotive Fitness & Environment (SAFE), a SIAM initiative, is organising its Annual Convention 2015 with its theme “Leapfrogging Road Safety: Way Forward” in Thiruvananthapuram on April 21 and 22.
Mr. Oommen Chandy, Kerala Chief Minister, and Mr. Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, State Transport Minister, will the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively at the inaugural function.
SAFE has been promoting an ‘Integrated Approach’ as the most effective and sustainable way to achieve cleaner environment and reducing road accidents. Every year the Annual Convention is organized with the objective of disseminating information about the best practices adopted nationally and internationally for improvement of road safety and cleaner environment.
In India, almost 1.5 lakh lives are lost needlessly on the roads every year. The corrective steps being taken will surely reduce road fatalities. The SAFE Convention will continue to emphasise the importance of road safety as well as other road safety initiatives in reducing the accident rates.
Speakers and delegates will consist of automobile engineers, practitioners, policy makers and other professionals from the Central and State Governments, academics from universities and research organizations, consultants and contractors.
A roundtable discussion on Future Norms & Safety Regulations for Automobiles will also be held on April 22.
