Sandhar Technologies Ltd. has signed a joint venture agreement with Whetron Electronics Co. Ltd. in the presence of Mr. C.K. Tien, Ambassador of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, to supply future technology products to the Indian automotive OEMs. The product line would include rear parking assist system, auto parking, cameras, around view system, driver monitoring system, digital video recorder, blind spot detection, door open alert, lane departure alert, rear cross traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring system and head-up display.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr. Tien wished the JV between the two important companies a long and successful innings that will benefit the huge Indian automotive industry through the safety products that this joint venture proposes to supply.
With dynamic changes in the Indian automotive market, the focus on driver safety and convenience is likely to augment the use of futuristic auto electronic components. It is being projected that 30-40% of the value of the passenger vehicle would be constituted by auto electronics.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steven Chiang, President of Whetron Electronics Co. Ltd., acknowledged the growing importance of the Indian automotive industry for Whetron and felt that, with an increased focus on safety and comfort and the worsening congestion on the road, the JV products offer a huge opportunity that can be exploited successfully with this partnership with Sandhar, an established and well recognized player in the Indian automotive market.
