SEL DIS Ticaret Ve Kimya Sanayi A.S. of Turkey, established in 1991, manufactures chemicals for construction and automotive industries. The main products turned out are silicones, acrylics sealants, polyurethane foams, polyurethane sealants, hybrid sealants, 
liquid nails, rust removers, marble and stone adhesives, marine adhesives and chemical anchors. The main brands of SEL are Selsil, Selfoam and Selflex.
The company also manufactures HDPE cartridges, with an annual capacity of 90 million units. It takes a part of its cartridge capacity for captive consumption and the rest for private label manufacturing, exporting and domestic sales.
SEL is the largest Turkish manufacturer and one of the biggest producers in the region with the manufacturing and stocking area of 35.000 sqm. It is an industrial producer operating with ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 since 2000 and exported to more than 65 countries in 2012.
None of the products are sent to customers without laboratory tests held within the factory. The company invested and continues to invest heavily into know-how, advanced manufacturing technics, product development and advertising. These strategic decisions show the seriousness with which the company develops customer satisfaction in order to be harmonious with the growing economy of Turkey.
Automotive industry
SEL first started to supply RTV silicones, some 1-component silicones for basic applications and auto gaskets to the automotive industry. In 2009, it enlarged the scope of its automotive industry range by launching polyurethane sealant 40, 50 and 60 Shore A types. A little later, hybrid sealant production commenced. Finally, SEL’s B1 fire-resistant polyurethane foam got ARAI certification for supply to the automotive industry in India, and the supply range expanded to reach the current level.
As for the manufacturing techniques and product development, SEL opened a new facility in Istanbul, next to its main settlement, for polyurethane and hybrid sealant manufacturing. In this new site, four types of polyurethane sealants and two types of hybrid sealants are being manufactured by using the latest technology and equipment.
Investments in India
Beginning from 2011, SEL started investing in the Indian market. The company entered into an agreement with VRTS Industrial Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for distribution of its brands all over India. SEL first launched Selsil silicones (Multipurpose, RTV, Neutral, Shower cabin and Mirrorsilicones), acrylic sealants and Selfoam polyurethane foams.
In 2012, VRTS decided to promote Selsil and Selflex polyurethane and hybrid sealants both in cartridge and sausage formats. It soon achieved remarkable significant success in gaining market share, especially in the automotive industry.
Valve product satisfaction with its patented system paved the way for launching of B1 fire-retardant polyurethane foam by SEL and VRTS for both construction and automotive industries. SEL’s latest initiative specifically for the Indian market is the general-purpose sealant with its wide range of applications and price advantage.
Together with VRTS, the company participated in fairs like ZAK Doors & Windows 2012 in Delhi, Bus World 2013 in Mumbai and the Commercial Vehicle Fair 2013 in Chennai.
