SML Isuzu displayed an attractive trio at the show. The range included the FR1318, an 11 m AC coach powered by a 4-cylinder 177 hp engine, the S7 staff bus, a 9 m bus intended for staff travel, and a compact 6 m 13-seater executive AC bus. The company has been working on new developments, and through SML’s decades-long and deep understanding of the Indian market, has come up with quality products at affordable costs. This it believes is the way to succeed in the Indian market.
“Our endeavor is always to produce vehicles which are affordable to the customers and at the same time maintain high quality levels. We believe quality, pricing and aftersales service are the three main factors to be successful in the market, and we are strong on all of them and are definitely in the race”, says Mr. K.B. Prasad, Executive Director (Marketing), SML Isuzu.
The company expects the school bus and staff transportation segments to grow significantly in the next five to seven years. It considers inter-city and intra-city operations to be challenging, given the fact that specifications are constantly being altered in these segments, though it believes the ‘smart cities’ concept would boost the growth of public transportation in cities in the coming decade.
