The manufacturer of commercial vehicles like school buses, trucks and tipper trucks has always enjoyed a sizeable market share in Kerala, made possible only because of the high product quality and the most reliable and trusted vehicle delivery by the company
SML ISUZU (SML I) Ltd., a leading manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India, has a technical tie-up with ISUZU MOTORS, Japan. The company’s products are most popular in Kerala and attract very high brand equity in the region.
In a telephonic interaction with MOTORINDIA, V. Nilakantan, Chief Manager (Marketing), SML I-Kerala, informed that the SML I Samrat Global Series trucks were introduced in Kerala during the middle of 2018 and started getting an increasingly positive response from the customers, especially for tipper transports, thus beefing up its presence in the State.
This was also due to the fact that SML Isuzu has a very systematically laid out network in the entire region of Kerala for both sales and service, thus providing the kind of after-sales support that few other companies provide. The recent introduction of S7 Contract Carriage (route bus application) has become a preferred transportation solution among the operators. Similarly, the company’s SML I S7 fully-built school buses fetch a high rate of acceptance due to operational economics and its safety features and affordability.
Dhusan Motors Private Ltd. at Kannur in Kerala has been an authorised dealer for SML I range of products since October 2019. It is efficiently managed by Santhosh C.R., Managing Director and Madhu J, Director. Both the promoters were previously associated with leading Volvo-Eicher dealerships for Kerala and Karnataka for close to 20 years. Santhosh is a mechanical engineer who was heading operations of the Eicher’s commercial vehicles’ dealership whereas Madhu is a business management graduate who was the COO of Eicher CV and TATA Hitachi Excavator dealerships.
The duo is highly confident of taking SML I’s products to greater heights in the assigned territory. While talking to MOTORINDIA, both Santhosh and Madhu conveyed that their new full-fledged showroom and fully-operational service centre with adequate spare parts are designed to satisfy customers at any given time. They further opined that with the support of SML I and the company’s planned strategies, they would be encouraged to build more volumes and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. “It is an established brand and is backed by a good promotion campaign. As such, we are confident of notching up a good sales record over the coming years,” Santhosh said.
