Mr. Sumit Mazumder, Chairman & Managing Director, TIL Ltd., has been elected President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 2015-16. He succeeds Mr. Ajay Shriram.
TIL is the manufacturer of India’s largest range of material handling equipment in technical collaboration with world leaders like the Manitowoc Crane Group, Hyster, a part of the NACCO Materials Handling Group, Astec Industries, and Paceco Corp., all of the US, and Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding and Mitsui Miike Machinery Co. of Japan.
Mr. Mazumder is also the Executive Chairman of Tractors India Pvt. Ltd. (TIPL), a distributor for Caterpillar of the US, in India, Nepal and Bhutan for earthmoving, construction, mining equipment and power systems.
A graduate of St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta, Mr. Mazumder obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University, Texas. He also undertook the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, Massachusetts.
