Talbros focus on make-in-India, sell-to-Europe

The Talbros Group, a reputed manufacturer of gaskets & heat shields, forgings, suspension systems, anti-vibration components and hoses, is wooing European customers with its quality products made in India at highly competitive price points. The company showcased its vast line-up of products at last year’s IAA Commercial Vehicles show at Hanover in an effort to offer India-made solutions for global OEM and aftermarket customers.

While the steering and suspensions outfit QH Talbros presented its new torque rods and heavy parts, Talbros’ gaskets division displayed sealings and heat shields for Euro VI applications, with anti-vibration mounts, hoses, and forgings being the other products on display in the company stand.

QH Talbros has its strong presence in overseas markets with close to 20 per cent of its revenue coming from exports. With customers such as Carraro and Dana in the off-highway space, the company ships its products primarily to Europe, followed by the US, Japan, Thailand and other markets. Mr. Ravi Mohan, Sr. Vice President Business Development, QH Talbros Pvt. Ltd., said: “Almost every commercial vehicle in India has our products. Our tow bar was developed as an import substitution product for Daimler and is now being validated in Europe. We target the OEMs directly and a major share of our business comes from the OEM segment. Our strategy is simple – European customers have to buy from India and we have to be selling to them.”

Mr. Ajay Singh, Associate Vice President, Engineering & OE Sales, Talbros Automotive Components Ltd., added: “All our metal gaskets are compliant for Euro VI while our cylinder-head gaskets are designed to seal up to 200 bar pressure, also for Euro VI applications. In India, we supply to Cummins who deliver engines to Tata Motors and are a single source for Volvo Eicher and Daimler. We also have presence in Ashok Leyland.”
