Talwar Auto Garages (TAG) is a prominent name in the field of automotive dealerships. Part of the Talwar Group, the 30-year-old company has been a trusted dealer partner of Volvo-Eicher Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV) in Telangana. It also has the distinction of being the highest selling dealer of VECV in the country for 20 consecutive years.
The Talwar Group, which started only with TAG in 1986, has expanded its presence to various cities and operates in different verticals today. The Group currently includes TAG, Talsons, Talwar Hyundai, Talwar Cars, T&R Motors, Rebel Motorcycles, and Vista Entertainment. It is now the dealer partner of premium brands like Volvo, Hyundai, Bajaj, and Triumph.
A forward-looking company, TAG already has a list of goals for 2020. Commenting on this, Mr. Sunil Talwar, Managing Director, TAG, said: “Our primary target for 2020 is to sell 4,000 units of Eicher trucks and buses in Telangana annually. Our Group currently has a turnover of Rs. 900 crores and we plan to increase it to Rs. 1,500 crores by 2020. Also, we will be expanding our service network in Nizamabad and our operations in Warangal.”
The Group plans to focus on technological upgradation – right from connecting all group companies using video conferencing facilities to updating their software programs as well as developing their own software for integrating the data of all the group companies. It also plans to completely shift to alternative energy in the near future and make sure all its workshops and showrooms, which are already partially powered by solar energy, are run on 100% renewable energy.
TAG’s roadmap for achieving its goals for 2020 involves a two-fold approach – infrastructure improvement and manpower recruitment. The company is planning to improve its infrastructure and expand its footprint in various locations. It is also on a recruitment drive to ensure it has highly qualified human resources for all its offices, workshops, and showrooms in various cities.
Asked about TAG’s key focus areas until 2020, Mr. Talwar said: “We want to be number one in customer satisfaction both in sales and service across the board in all the segments of our dealership.”
According to Mr. Talwar, manpower retention and development has been a hallmark of the company in the past and will continue to be a key focus area in the future. The company invests in its workforce by conducting various training and skill development programs. It has also introduced a wide range of welfare schemes for the benefit of the employees. A majority of the workforce at TAG has been with the company for more than 25 years and a number of them are second generation workers, which speaks volumes about the company’s work culture.
