TCCI, a global leader in compressor manufacturing, serves a diverse range of applications, including trucks, buses, and off-road vehicles, with a focus on providing both mechanical and electric compressors to meet the growing demand across various markets. In an exclusive interview with Rajesh Rajgor, Jörg Lehmann, Vice President of International Sales & Marketing at TCCI, and Deepak Upreti, Director of India Operations at TCCI, shared valuable insights into the company’s operations, innovations, and future growth in India and globally.
As Jörg Lehmann explains, “We supply wide range of mechanical and electric compressors, there is a significant demand for these products from the market, particularly in applications like transportation and off-road vehicles.” One of TCCI’s key advantages is its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India, which produces compressors for renowned global customers such as MAN, Scania, and Volkswagen. This ensures that the same high-quality products made for international markets are also available to Indian customers.
Deepak Upreti adds, “Over the last four years, we have seen substantial growth in our customer base in India. We are heavily investing in new technologies, particularly in electric compressors, to support our customers locally. By the end of next year, we plan to expand our manufacturing capabilities with another production line.”
The transition from mechanical to electric compressors has become a significant trend, especially in the trucking industry. This shift is driven by the electrification of vehicles and the need for space optimization inside vehicles. As Jörg Lehmann explains, “We see higher cooling requirements in typical applications like trucks, and the shift towards electric compressors is not only about electrification but also about reducing space within the vehicle, making electric compressors more vital.”
TCCI offers a comprehensive range of air conditioning compressors, from small-scale models to large SP compressors designed for bus applications. “We cater to all needs, from the smallest compressors to larger systems for buses,” Lehmann notes. The company is also responsive to customer demands for products that address specific challenges like space reduction, noise, and vibration. “We collaborate closely with our customers to optimize these factors in our products, ensuring a cooperative approach that meets their needs,” says Lehmann.

In India, the refrigeration industry remains relatively immature, though it is gradually growing. TCCI has established strong relationships with global refrigeration companies like Thermo King and Carrier, which have a significant presence in the Indian market. “While India’s refrigeration market is still developing, we support global customers locally, ensuring they have access to the same reliable technology they use worldwide,” Upreti states.
While the competitive landscape in India requires balancing technology, durability, and cost, TCCI remains focused on delivering high-quality, reliable products. Upreti highlights, “We strive to keep our products durable and reliable while staying competitive in terms of pricing. Our reaction time to customer needs is fast, and we are well-positioned to meet these challenges.”
Looking ahead, TCCI remains optimistic about the future of the Indian market and its global operations. The company is expanding its reach and strengthening relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Lehmann concludes, “We are optimistic about the future, working closely with our global customers and supporting developments in all regions. We’re already well-placed in India to meet new mandates, including the truck cabin air conditioning systems, and we see good growth potential ahead for all of us.”
TCCI’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric solutions positions it well for continued growth in India and beyond, as it navigates the evolving needs of the commercial vehicle and refrigeration industries.
